LIVE From Power Shift 2011!

Just five hours into Power Shift 2011 and the excitement filling the Washington Convention Center is palpable! Thousands of youth climate leaders are here, in DC, primed to take on Big Polluters and stand strong for the environment.

Before they get started with an incredible weekend of movement building and organizing sessions, they'll hear from some of the leading voices in the clean energy movement.

What are people saying about Power Shift?

Right now, you're excited about meeting 9,999 new friends, learning about methods for movement buliding, and maybe even visiting Washington, DC for the first time. For four days, you're going to hear, see, and learn a lot about climate activism and what we can do to protect our planet.

But what happens after?

After Power Shift, we all go back to our communities and/or campuses and spread the message. It's our jobs, once we leave Monday afternoon (or sooner if you're not staying for the Action or Lobby Day), to make things happen in our communities -- to move a local campus off dirty energy, to meet with our elected officials to voice our concerns about the environment, and spread these messages through the media.
