We Marched Forth on #March4th for Climate Justice #DivestNow

On dozens of campuses across the country yesterday, students Marched Forth on March 4th with marches and rallies demanding our universities divest now!

Flaunting the orange square, we showed our growing power with escalated pressure on our university presidents and boards.   We proclaimed "Divestment is a Tactic; Justice is the Goal" and connected our movement with the larger struggle for economic and climate justice.

Yesterday, we showed how our national momentum from February's Power Up! Student Convergence can translate to taking action on our campuses in solidarity with one another.  Together, we are unstoppable!

Momentum + Solidarity

Right now our movement has some serious momentum. Last weekend 50,000 of us converged on the National Mall to demand we move Forward On Climate.

And this weekend, momentum will continue to build at Swarthmore College.

On Friday hundreds of students from 77 campuses are coming together for the first-ever fossil fuel divestment convergence just as Swarthmore’s Board of Managers meets to consider divesting fossil fuels.

While we can’t bring 50,000 of us there, it’s a huge opportunity to bring that beautiful spirit of solidarity we felt last weekend.

Join the call for divestment! Call on Swarthmore and all colleges & universities to divest from fossil fuels and move to 100% clean energy.

It’s in this spirit of solidarity that we relaunched the Campus Climate Challenge. Youth and student leaders across the country are demanding bold action on climate from their campuses — and together we can support one another and take collective action to win our campaigns.

DIVESTMENT RISING: Student #FossilFree Movement Demands 230 Campuses #DivestNow

Fossil fuel divestment campaigns on over 230 campuses kicked off 2013 with unprecedented energy and power.  Our movement's rapid growth has inspired endorsements from university presidents, proposals for pension funds, churches, and cities to divest, and even has the fossil fuel industry on the defensive

On campuses nationwide, thousands of students have returned from winter break with greater passion and determination to win.  They are holding teach-ins, winning endorsements, rallying, and petitioning their Trustees with unparalleled momentum - and the national media is taking notice.
