Virginia Alliance for a Cleaner Environment

Goals:

Uniting Virginia students to utilize their collective power within the broader environmental movement by developing leaders, running successful campaigns, and sharing resources on a local and state-wide level.

VACE started as a simple idea at Power Shift 2011 of bringing Virginia students together. At Virginia Power Shift 2011 this was solidified into what is now known as the Virginia Alliance for a Cleaner Environment (VACE).

Core members of VACE are currently developing a campaign plan tackling coal in Virginia. This campaign will be launched come January 2012 so get ready Virginia. The fight starts here!

Virginia Alliance Forms to Fight Coal

All great ideas start with one person, but they certainly do not end there. The Virginia Alliance for a Cleaner Environment (VACE) was no different. Back in April at Power Shift 2011, Virginia environmentalists were gathered in the state breakout room to talk about various issues in the state. Mountaintop removal, off-shore wind versus off-shore drilling, uranium mining, campus coal plants, and hydraulic fracturing were all recognized as problems faced in in Virginia. But we do not have to face these things alone.
