Clean, renewable energy will not only bring more jobs to Michigan and the rest of the country, but will not destroy our natural environment like oil spills and threaten wildlife populations, including endangered whooping crane habitat and the risks to thousands of wolves that may be poisoned from expansion of Canadian tar sands operations.
Young people in Michigan have seen first hand the devastation that a tar sands oil spill has on the health of a community. The community of Kalamazoo continues to struggle over a year and half later.
