The crowds are growing, the bands are here – Bonnaroo has officially begun and so has Power Vote 2012! Our crew from the Southern Energy Network, Sierra Student Coalition, and the Energy Action Coalition is on the scene, registering voters and collecting pledges from young people who are ready to stand up against dirty money and make clean energy a top issue in this election.
This year, Power Vote will be cleaning up politics and calling out the special interests whose toxic money poisons our democracy while their toxic pollution poisons our planet.
Bonnaroo is just the beginning. This summer and fall we will be mobilizing across the country to demand candidates refuse dirty money and find out where they stand on clean energy and climate. Though local actions young people will continue to build a clean energy future and call on candidates to follow our lead.
In the first hour of the festival we’ve met young people from all across the nation. Each one has agreed on one thing: dirty energy campaign contributions are polluting our political system, and that we have to act to take back our democracy.
Stay tuned for updates throughout the weekend. We’ve got bands and artists like Big Frieda, Here We Go Magic, and Rubblebucket stopping in to talk to us about how they’re taking action.
