This fall, young people are rising up in their local communities to take action demanding that we build a cleaner, safer, healthier future for us all.
Young people are already at the forefront of the fight for responsible energy solutions, clean air and clean water. From opposing the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline to retiring university owned coal plants – we will challenge our university administrations and local officials to end our reliance on dirty, dangerous energy.
Over the course of October, we’ll unite our efforts with 100 actions across the country, creating a drumbeat of demand to move our campuses and communities to 100% clean energy solutions.

Wednesday afternoon in the pouring rain UNC Beyond Coal supporters gathered on the steps of the Ackland Art Museum to rally in front the Board of Trustees as they walked to dinner. The students called on the university to stop funding the coal industry and divest the UNC endowment from coal company holdings. Students held signs proclaiming the negative effects of coal and chanted in support of a responsible endowment.
